MC SYSTEM

Mark System is known as a conscious lyricist and a clear and precise D
'n 'B MC. He lets the music breath.

A favourite with the DJs, his style enables them to collaborate with him with out the music being overpowered. "I have always described my style as hosting with syncopated poetry. I believe that in a live situation, the music it self should be centre stage followed by the DJ. The host is there to compliment the mix. You don't need an MC to listen to music and enjoy it! To do it properly is a challenge."

System (son of a former professional musician) has always loved Drum & Bass in its many forms since he discovered it on the pirates in 1990.
He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer who plays trumpet, piano and drums to a high standard and composes many styles. His influences include jazz, soul, house, hip-hop, Latin, funk classical and even brass band music! "I was princal Cornet player in a championship brass band as a boy, we played everywhere; Royal Albert Hall, Earls court, the Lord Mayors show and even a kit kat advert! "

His earliest performing experiences were touring with the band up and down the country in competions and concerts.
System is a non-conformist and experimentalist. He believes that in order to push things forward, things should be done differently.

When he went to college in 1995 he met DJ Focus. System describes their early days as a DJ/MC duo with fond memories
... "Focus and I met on our first day of college in the morning and by the afternoon we had discovered our parallel interest in Jungle. We went back to his house before the day had even finished and made our first mix tape. About eighteen months later we joined Rude fm. Focus is to this day one of the best DJ I have ever known."

It was late 1997, in the early days of Future Thinkin that Shylo discovered the pair by listening to them on the radio and made them an integral part of the FT crew he was forming.

Time passed, and Focus and System went off in different directions in 2001.Mark Systems musical ability has been put to good use over the years ... "I have been writing lyrics and music for as long as I can remember. I used to make hardcore and hip hop with a 4 track recorder and keyboards when I was a kid ".

These days his production skills have come on leaps and bounds and he now writes not just excellent Drum & Bass tracks but also has credits to his name for producing for a pop artist, making and arranging music for London Fashion Week and creating radio jingles and adverts to mention a few.

"Although Drum & Bass music is my first love and runs through my blood stream, I have a really wide taste in music generally. I want to score for films as a long term goal. "
